Today we’re featuring Xavier Dubreuil, Senior Director, Engineering at Odaseva!
Q: Tell us about what you do here at Odaseva:
A: As Senior Director of Engineering at Odaseva, I optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering operations. I act as a strategic partner to the VP of Engineering, translating technical vision into actionable plans and ensuring seamless execution. My missions include strategic planning, roadmap development, process improvement, resource allocation, and cross-functional coordination, all aimed at providing the engineering team with the necessary tools, processes, and support to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions. I’m based in the Paris hub.
Q: What’s the team that you work with like?:
A: Our engineering team, an international group spanning Paris and San Francisco, thrives on a collaborative and supportive spirit, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie where everyone is eager to assist and share their knowledge across multiple cultures. Continuous learning and improvement are at the core of our ethos, evident in our regular knowledge-sharing sessions, retrospective analyses for growth, and dedicated innovation time.
We consistently engage in challenging and impactful projects that push the boundaries of data management and security within the Salesforce ecosystem. Our work involves cutting-edge technologies, as we continuously seek to enhance our platform. Beyond our day-to-day tasks, we cultivate a fun and inclusive atmosphere. This includes successful hackathons that inspire creative solutions and strengthen team bonds, along with regular team lunches and after-work gatherings that promote personal connections.
Q: Why did you join Odaseva?
A: I joined Odaseva primarily because of the incredible people I met during the interview process; their genuine passion and dedication were truly inspiring and felt authentic even after I started. Beyond the compelling human connection, the opportunity to contribute to the ambitious project of scaling the Engineering team from 12 people in 2022 to over 30 today was a significant draw. This growth trajectory presented an exciting challenge and a chance to build a robust and high-performing team.
Q: What do you like about working at Odaseva?
A: There's a lot to love about working at Odaseva! The company's core values, particularly trust, one team, and kaizen, are genuinely embedded in our daily operations. It's truly inspiring to be part of an environment where everyone works together, offering incredibly supportive collaboration. This collective effort, combined with a commitment to continuous improvement, makes coming to work a pleasure. We also prioritize a healthy work-life balance and often enjoy after-work gatherings together.
Q: How did you come to join the Salesforce ecosystem?
A: My entry into the Salesforce ecosystem was relatively recent and largely driven by joining Odaseva. Prior to this, my exposure to Salesforce was minimal, primarily stemming from understanding its broader impact through various contractual and business relations rather than hands-on experience. Odaseva provided the direct opportunity to immerse myself in this ecosystem and contribute to its specialized area of data protection.
Q: What’s your proudest work-related accomplishment or project?
A: My proudest work-related accomplishment is undoubtedly the successful scaling of the Engineering team. We quickly elaborated efficient recruitment processes, including live technical tests, and managed to multiply the team size by three, bringing in incredibly talented engineers who have integrated seamlessly and are working together collaboratively to achieve our goals. I also proactively supported the Engineering team in being first in objective decisions and budget management.
Q: What else can you tell us about yourself?
A: Beyond my professional life, I'm a passionate sports enthusiast. I've played handball for 25 years, and it's instilled in me a deep understanding of teamwork and collaborative effort towards a shared objective. For the past decade, I've also enjoyed golf, which has taught me the importance of individual effort and the acceptance of mistakes. These values are essential for personal growth, and they are what I strive to teach my children.
