More than 170,000 people from all over the world descended on San Francisco recently for what has become the largest software conference in the world: Dreamforce. Through the 3200+ sessions, 600+ workshops and 2400+ customer speakers, one of the common denominators was data.

The vast stores of Salesforce data being collected by each organization is the driving force that empowers decisions that amount to business success. Whether it be sales leads, customer orders, requests for information, customer helpdesk calls, etc., the Salesforce data allows companies to go from running on instinct to making decisions based on solid numbers.

And, as noted in Dreamforce 2017, the collection and management of data will only increase. Here’s how:

Salesforce Einstein will need good quality data

The Salesforce Einstein Keynote: AI For Everyone: Offering The Power Of AI To All Of Us, discussed the latest capabilities of Einstein, including how to embed AI in workflows.  Introduced last year, Salesforce Einstein is a layer of artificial intelligence that delivers predictions and recommendations based on your unique business processes and customer data. These insights can help automate responses and actions, which ultimately helps your employees and makes customers happier.

While we are in the nascent phases of AI, this new technology will be transformative and is widely anticipated to change the way we do business in the coming years.

GDPR implies data protection

With the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) goes into effect on May 25, 2018, organizations need to have already changed the way they manage their data. GDPR was a hot topic at Dreamforce, as organizations are grappling with how they can comply by the deadline.

Under the GDPR, EU citizens will have greater control over their personal data than ever before. Organizations that store data on EU citizens will need be able to retrieve precise description of data for a specific individual. Also, organizations must store only what is needed and authorized, and have the lowest retention possible. Plus, an individual’s has the right to be forgotten, or have their data deleted, anonymized, or obscured by pseudonymization.

Odaseva and Data Governance

With data being the essential component to Salesforce, protecting and effectively managing data is essential for any organization using Salesforce. While Salesforce does offer data backup and archiving, it doesn’t necessarily offer all the backup and archiving each organization needs. The fact is, each organization is primarily responsible for its own data.

Odaseva has recognized the trend of data-driven decision-making as it pertains to Salesforce and offers data backup, archiving and compliance with GDPR.
